The process for handling cases requiring corrections, retractions, and editorial expressions of concern
At International Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biological Archives (IJPBA), we are committed to maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the scientific record. We follow industry-standard guidelines, including those from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), to address issues related to post-publication changes.
Corrections
If an error is identified in a published article that does not affect the overall findings or scientific integrity, a Correction Notice will be published. The correction will be clearly linked to the original article and will specify the nature of the change.
Retractions
An article may be retracted if:
- It contains serious errors or data fabrication
- There is evidence of plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical research
- The findings are unreliable due to honest error or misconduct
Retractions will include a clear explanation and be prominently marked, while the original article will remain accessible with a “Retracted” watermark to maintain transparency.
Editorial Expressions of Concern
If there is uncertainty about the integrity of an article (e.g., an ongoing investigation), the editorial board may issue an Expression of Concern until the matter is resolved. This is a temporary notice used to alert readers of potential issues.
Who Can Initiate These Actions?
Corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern can be initiated by:
- The authors
- The journal editors
- Readers or institutions who identify valid concerns
Transparency
All post-publication notices will be:
- Clearly labeled (Correction, Retraction, or Expression of Concern)
- Freely accessible and linked to the original article
- Handled in accordance with COPE recommendations
